During the tour you’ll see the major places of interest of Helsinki – the Daughter of the Baltic Sea. The tour will take you to the open air Market surrounded by the architectural monuments of the 19th century, then – to the Senate Square – heart of Helsinki with the graceful Lutheran Cathedral built in 1852. The tour will continue along the Esplanade shopping streets to the park area where the majority of embassies are located and then – to the shipbuilding yard. Shipbuilding is one of the major branches of Finnish industry. A great number of cruise ships and ice breakers were built in this yard. The tour continues along the Mannerheimintie with the Parliament building, National Museum, Opera House and Finlandia Hall designed by the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Then you’ll head to the Olympic Station, the arena of the 1952 Olympic Games. A special attention should be paid to the unique church Temppeliaukio made in a rock. This breathtaking architectural creation has wonderful acoustics and is lit by the daylight through a glass dome. You’ll have an opportunity to see the Sibelius Park with one of the most distinctive architectural sites in Helsinki – a monument consisting of 527 steel pipes erected to honor the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. The tour ends at the shopping center Stockmann, where many best shops of Helsinki are located.
