Klaipeda – Vente Cape Tour
Tour code: KLJ K002,
Duration: 5:00 hours.
The tour takes you back in the history to the area known in the past as “Memelland” – the part of Lithuania Minor consisting of the coastland around Klaipėda (formerly known as Memel) and along the Curonian Lagoon, on the right bank of Neman River.
Departing from the port, you will take a bus ride around Klaipeda and take a 1 hour walking tour in the old town of Klaipeda. Afterwards the bus will take you to the Ventė village (50 km). During this trip you will get to see a lot of the beautiful Lithuanian countryside. The route passes through villages and small provincial towns. This part of western Lithuania is famous for having the greatest number of white storks and their nests.
From Klaipėda you will travel towards a small town of Priekulė. Emanuel Kant’s great grandfather was born here. En route you will see the Curonian Lagoon and admire the picturesque view to the Curonian Spit. After the arrival to the Ventės Ragas (Ventė horn) you will visit Ornithological Station, which is on one of the major north-south bird migration routes. At the centre you can be lucky enough to find a bird and put a ring on its leg with a help of professional ornithologist. From this small cape in the Curonian Lagoon you can see Nida town from the shore or from the top of the nearby lighthouse.
